In order to fully inspect the quality of a welded material, it is important to carefully check if they adhere to certain specifications. Among these are code and standards, gauges and prints, finishes and contours, cracks against standards, overlaps, undercuts, and spatters with consideration to acceptable levels. Post-Welding Inspection Overview

Once the actual welding process has been completed, size, length and location of all welds will be check to ensure that they conform to the drawings, specifications and code. No welds will be added without approval. Dimensional and visual checks of the weld must not identify welding discontinuities, excessive distortion and poor workmanship.

Temporary Attachments and Attachment Welds

Aside from that, temporary attachments and attachment welds must be removed and blended with base metal. Discontinuities are then reviewed against acceptance criteria for defect classification. NDE Execution

Test duration is as-specified by the inspector. Metal temperature of component must meet minimum and maximum requirements. Pressure drop or decay is acceptable per procedure. The visual examination does not reveal defects. It is also important to perform a final audit of the inspection dossier to identify inaccuracies and incomplete information. All verifications in the quality plan must be properly executed. Inspection reports must be complete, accepted and signed by responsible parties. Inspection reports, NDE examiners interpretations and findings must be accurate.
